Lately in my prayer time God’s been asking me tough questions
“Stephanie, are you ready to take a leap of faith?”
“Are you willing to trust me and follow through with the plans I have for you?”
“Are you ready to stand out from the crowd?”
“Are you ready to be persecuted?”
A good mentor of mine once said that God never gives you more than you can handle. I figured whatever God had instore for me, I should go for. He’s always going to be with me, and he’ll make sure I’m taken care of. On Sunday Pastor Steve was talking about adoption. Only 1/3 of Americans consider adoption, but only 2% actually follow through and adopt a child. He proceeded to make a bold statement that America is not ready to end abortion because the church is not willing to adopt children. Pastor Steve also mentioned three sibiling which were up for adoption, and no one was stepping up to the plate to adopt these children. As he mentioned it, there was a quickening in my spirit, and God asked “Are you ready to dive … and dive deep?”.
Suprisingly my answer was YES! I know it doesn’t make sense to me. I know it’s going to make me stand out from the rest of the world …but if not me, than who?…. if not now, then when?…..
As I look into the adoption process I am reminded of Horton the Elephant. I see Horton as an excellent role model.
1. He was willing to do the unthinkable. He was willing to sit on an egg.
2. He was faithful, he sat and he sat.
3. He faced persecution. His friends all laughed at him. He was all alone.
4. He never gave up.
5. and in the end “Horton was happy one hundred percent”
I don’t know if I will end up adopting these three particular children. It’s all in God’s hands, but I am willing to follow through.
Brilliant text!, brother
